Food and drink challenge for pupils at Bo’ness Academy

After reading a Determined to Succeed publication, Caledonia Produce were inspired to team up with Bo’ness Acedemy to set pupils the challenge of producing a marketable product that could be supplied and sold by M&S. Caledonia Produce worked closely with the pupils and staff using a team based approach and involving a number of departments such as Business Studies, Home Economics, PSE and Art and Design. The schools and employer worked together to devise a syllabus that would not only take forward the outcomes of Curriculum for Excellence but also deliver a project that was not only challenging but enjoyable.

The Muir Project

The Muir Project

Pupils from Peebles High School are working closely with Muir Homes, a family owned business to construct a building that will house an indoor classroom for teaching a variety of skills and trades that every modern day construction worker will need. This was called ‘The Muir Project’. 6th year pupils from Peebles High School will develop their leadership skills in taking forward this project from the planning to the implementation of the building. The project takes them beyond the classroom experience into a motivating a real life environment.
